On weekends, starting October 4th & on Friday October 31st for Halloween, bikes and scooters will be forbidden on all Newburyport/Rockport Line trains due to the Haunted Happenings & Halloween event crowds in Salem.

Travel Time: Riders using shuttle bus service should budget extra travel time. For example, a rider traveling to Park Street from Braintree should allow for at least 35 minutes of travel in addition to their regular commute. Lansdowne Elevator 992 (Track 7 (outbound platform) to west side of bridge) unavailable due to maintenance

Wollaston Parking Lot will be partially closed from Oct 27 through Nov 28 to allow equipment to stage for Red Line track work. Use the North Quincy Garage or the Quincy Adams Garage as alternatives.

Roxbury Crossing Elevator 847 (Platform to paid lobby) unavailable due to maintenance

A shuttle bus will be available to transport customers between Roxbury Crossing and Ruggles. To exit, exit the train at Ruggles and find station personnel or use a station call box to request the shuttle bus to Roxbury Crossing. To board, find station personnel or use a station call box at Roxbury Crossing to request the shuttle bus to Ruggles. Alternatively, customers may also use Bus Route 22 for transportation between Roxbury Crossing and Ruggles.

The new Fall/Winter Schedule will go into effect on Monday, October 27th with seasonal and on-time performance adjustments. The schedule for all lines are available on MBTA.com now and at Boston hub stations soon.

Holiday service: On Thursday, November 27th, 2025 (Thanksgiving Day), Thursday, December 25th, 2025 (Christmas Day), Thursday, January 1st, 2026 (New Year’s Day), and Monday, February 16th, 2026 (President’s Day) all lines will operate on a weekend schedule. A new Franklin/Foxboro Line schedule is in effect as of on Monday, September 8. More morning peak service inbound trains serve Forest Hills, Ruggles, and Back Bay.

The Franklin/Foxboro Line remains on a temporary construction schedule as Amtrak’s emergency infrastructure repairs will continue beyond October 27th. Construction and service updates for the Franklin/Foxboro, Providence/Stoughton, and Fairmount Lines will be provided as work progresses.

Jackson Square: The platform is undergoing renovations to improve safety and accessibility. Sections of the platform are unlevel, which may make it difficult for some riders to board and exit trains. This work will take place through fall 2025.

A new Fairmount Line schedule will be in effect starting on Monday, September 8. These changes reflect the Amtrak infrastructure repair progress.

The Fairmount temporary construction schedule will remain in effect as the rail replacement project to prepare the line for battery-electric trains continues. Construction and service updates for the Franklin/Foxboro, Providence/Stoughton, and Fairmount Lines will be provided as work progresses.

The Water St @ Watertown Yard stop has been permanently closed. Riders can board a bus at the new stop located at the corner of Technology Way.

Government Center Escalator 446 (Blue Line platform to Green Line platform) unavailable due to maintenance

Chinatown Elevator 876 (Oak Grove platform to Washington St, Essex St) will be unavailable through Mon Nov 3 for major equipment upgrades.

The elevator will be closed for work that will significantly improve its long-term reliability. To Exit: Take an Oak Grove Train to Downtown Crossing; then take Downtown Crossing elevator 891 to Franklin Street. At Franklin Street customers should turn left and travel 450 feet south on Washington Street then take Downtown Crossing elevator 892 to the Forest Hills platform. Then take a Forest Hills Train to Chinatown and use elevator 922 to exit the station. To Board: Go to Chinatown Elevator 922 on Essex St. Take Elevator 922 to the Forest Hills platform. Take a Forest Hills train to Tufts Medical Center. Transfer to an Oak Grove train.

To accommodate Providence Station Renovations, construction barriers have been installed and the Southern stairwell to Track 1 is out of service. Staircase access to Track 3 and Track 5 are now open.

Jackson Square: The stairway connecting the Jackson Sq lobby and the south end of the platform is closed until winter 2026. Use the stairway at the north end of the platform. This closure is for the construction of a new stairway and a second elevator.

Construction is ongoing in the Hingham Parking lot and on Shipyard Drive in preparation for the Hingham Ferry Dock upgrades. There is reduced parking in the lot, and portions of Shipyard Drive and driveways to and from the parking lot are affected

There is no accessible path connecting the inbound and outbound platforms at Wellesley Square Station. The existing path includes steep slopes and is long. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

There are accessible mini-high platforms at the Western end of both the Track 1 and Track 2 sides. However, the existing pedestrian path between the two sides is long and includes steep slopes, especially on the Crest Road bridge over the tracks. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

Littleton/Route 495 passengers can expect occasional traffic and detours accessing the station due to the Foster Street reconstruction work.

Scheduled to complete sometime in 2027, the Reconstruction of Foster Street includes widening and resurfacing with the addition of bicycle lanes.

The escalator will remain out of service for the foreseeable future. This decision was made after a thorough inspection determined that corrosion on the escalator’s steel truss was so severe that it could not be repaired further and that a complete replacement of the escalator would be required. Replacing the escalator at this location requires a more extended unit meeting modern escalator safety requirements. This longer unit will require significant alteration to the station entrance to meet code requirements. The MBTA has currently begun design work to understand what station upgrades will be needed. Due to these complexities, we expect the escalator will remain out of service for a significant time. We recognize the challenges this poses to our riders, and please know we are working to identify a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Government Center Station, which is fully accessible and serves the Blue Line, is under a quarter-mile from Bowdoin Station.

Lynn Parking Garage arcade stairs 1 and 2 are closed until further notice due to structural issues. Customers may exit the garage via elevators to the ground level or by using the south stairs located on the Market street side of the garage.

Vehicular access to the upper 2 levels of the garage is restricted. The garage has sufficient parking capacity to accommodate daily demand.
