The Route 225 bus stops at Quincy Ave @ Charlesmount Ave and Quincy Ave opp Charlesmount Ave have moved approximately 300 feet east and have been renamed "Quincy Ave @ Burns Ave" and "Quincy Ave opp Burns Ave".

The bus stop at Hanscom Field Dr @ Old Bedford Rd has moved about 700 feet south to the newly rebuilt Hanscom Air Force Base Visitor Control Center and has been renamed "Hanscom Air Force Base".

All Route 350 trips now serve Burlington Mall Rd between North Burlington and Alewife.

All Route 87 trips have been permanently extended to Arlington Center. This change provides more service in Arlington on weekday evenings, Saturday evenings, and Sundays.

All Route 87 trips will travel between Lechmere and Arlington Center. The route pattern that ends at Clarendon Hill will be discontinued.

The combined Route 40/50 has been permanently discontinued and are now running as separate routes. All Route 40 trips travel between Georgetowne and Forest Hills. All Route 50 trips travel between Cleary Sq and Forest Hills.

Route CT2 has been permanently discontinued. The CT2 has been combined with the existing Route 85 into a new Route 85, with service between Ruggles and Assembly. All existing CT2 stops are being served by the new Route 85.

To complete track improvement work, the Greenbush, Kingston, and Fall River/New Bedford Lines will originate and terminate at Braintree during the following weekends: • April 11-2, 18-19, & 25-26 • May 9-10 Passengers can use the Red Line for service between South Station and Braintree. Inbound Greenbush Line trains will terminate at Braintree after stopping at Weymouth Landing/East Braintree, a journey of approximately 9 minutes. Red Line riders can expect longer travel times nightly from 8 PM to end of service. Beginning on March 26, regular service will operate between Braintree and JFK/UMass. For continued service, please transfer to an Alewife-Ashmont train at JFK/UMass.

How long will the work take: To accomplish this work, two more phases of evening service changes will continue through April. Each phase should take about two weeks to complete. How much longer will my trip be: Riders should budget an additional 10 – 15 minutes of travel time during this work. When is the next phase: Likely beginning April 9, with regular service operating between Ashmont and JFK/UMass. For service beyond JFK/UMass, transfer to an Alewife-Braintree train at JFK/UMass. Why are we doing this: This work is part of a signal modernization project in Columbia Junction near JFK/UMass. Signals in this area were significantly damaged by a derailment in 2019.

Orange Line: Trains in both directions will operate on a single track between Oak Grove and Wellington on Sunday, April 5, from 6:30 PM to the end of service. This is to allow for critical switch work.

Shuttle Train Information: All Orange Line train service between Oak Grove and Wellington will operate with a shuttle train on the northbound track that operates approximately every 15 minutes. A shuttle train operates back and forth on a single track. The shuttle train only operates between Oak Grove and Wellington. Riders travelling beyond Wellington will need to transfer between the shuttle train and regular Orange Line train service (across the platform at Wellington). Orange Line train service between Forest Hills and Wellington will operate as normal, approximately every 9 – 10 minutes. Additional Travel Time: Riders will experience longer wait times and should allow extra travel time. Riders should note that shuttle buses will not be offered as an alternative during this service change (because shuttle trains will be operating).

Route 55 outbound is detoured due to sewer construction, skipping Kilmarnock St @ Peterborough St and Kilmarnock St @ Queensberry St. The closest outbound stops with service are Boylston St @ Jersey St and Queensberry St @ Jersey St.

This elevator will be closed for major equipment upgrades that will significantly improve its long-term reliability. A shuttle bus will be available to transport riders between Broadway and Andrew. Broadway @ Temple St (outbound) has moved due to construction. The stop is relocated to Grant St, in front of 281 Broadway.

The stairway connecting the Jackson Square lobby and the south end of the platform is closed until winter 2026. Use the stairway at the north end of the platform. This closure is for the construction of a new stairway and a second elevator.

State Escalator 6 (Oak Grove platform to Old State House lobby) unavailable

Construction is ongoing in the Hingham Parking lot and on Shipyard Drive in preparation for the Hingham Ferry Dock upgrades. There is reduced parking in the lot, and portions of Shipyard Drive and driveways to and from the parking lot are affected.

Andrew Escalator 123 (Ashmont/Braintree platform to busway) is unavailable until further notice, pending replacement.

Bowdoin Escalator 125 (Lobby to street) is unavailable until further notice, pending replacement.

The escalator will remain out of service for the foreseeable future. This decision was made after a thorough inspection determined that corrosion on the escalator’s steel truss was so severe that it could not be repaired further and that a complete replacement of the escalator would be required. Replacing the escalator at this location requires a more extended unit meeting modern escalator safety requirements. This longer unit will require significant alteration to the station entrance to meet code requirements. The MBTA has currently begun design work to understand what station upgrades will be needed. Due to these complexities, we expect the escalator will remain out of service for a significant time. We recognize the challenges this poses to our riders, and please know we are working to identify a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Government Center Station, which is fully accessible and serves the Blue Line, is under a quarter-mile from Bowdoin Station.

The platform at Jackson Square is undergoing renovations to improve safety and accessibility. Sections of the platform are unlevel, which may make it difficult for some riders to board and exit trains.

This is to accommodate track improvement work and the replacement of 14,000 railroad ties and is scheduled to complete mid-May, 2026. Single-track operations will be in effect throughout this period so boarding areas may change. From March through June, 2026, Wickford Junction Garage will be undergoing renovation. Visitors can expect one level at a time to be inaccessible as crews work to complete each floor.

To accommodate Providence Station Renovations, construction barriers have been installed and the Southern stairwell to Track 1 is out of service. Staircase access to Track 3 and Track 5 are now open.

Littleton/Route 495 passengers can expect occasional traffic and detours accessing the station due to the Foster Street reconstruction work.

Scheduled to complete sometime in 2027, the Reconstruction of Foster Street includes widening and resurfacing with the addition of bicycle lanes.

To travel from the North Station platform to the Fitchburg platform, travel east on Maple St towards Main St. At Main St, turn left and continue to Railroad St. At Railroad St, turn left and continue to the station, where a ramp to the Fitchburg platform is located next the small parking lot. To travel from the Fitchburg platform to the North Station platform, travel to the east end of the platform and proceed down the ramp to the small parking lot. Continue east on Railroad St to Main St. At Main St, turn right and continue to Maple St. At Maple St, turn right and continue to the walkway that leads to the platform.

There is no accessible path connecting the inbound and outbound platforms at Wellesley Square Station. The existing path includes steep slopes and is long. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

There are accessible mini-high platforms at the Western end of both the Track 1 and Track 2 sides. However, the existing pedestrian path between the two sides is long and includes steep slopes, especially on the Crest Road bridge over the tracks. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

The Riverside Ave entrance at Campello Station is currently closed. Passengers may continue to use the Plain St entrance.
