Route 70 is experiencing delays of up to 20 minutes due to traffic

On the weekends of Jan 3rd-4th, 17th-18th and 31st-Feb.1st, local and express shuttle buses replace regular weekend train service on the Lowell Line between North Station and Anderson/Woburn to allow for signal improvement work.

North Station Escalator 447 (Passageway to Commuter Rail, TD Garden) unavailable due to maintenance

Arlington Elevator 964 (Lobby to Boylston Street) unavailable

A shuttle bus will be available to transport customers between Arlington and Copley. To exit, exit the train at Copley and find station personnel or use a station call box to request the shuttle bus to Arlington. To board, find station personnel or use a station call box at Arlington to request the shuttle bus to Copley.

On the weekends of Jan 3rd-4th, 17th-18th and 31st-Feb.1st, Orange Line service will replace regular weekend train service on the Haverhill Line between North Station and Oak Grove to allow for signal improvement work.

-A diversion schedule will be in effect. -Passengers can use the Orange Line for service between North Station and Oak Grove. -There will be normal Commuter Rail weekend train service between Oak Grove and Haverhill. -There will be no shuttle buses provided for this diversion. -Riders using the Orange Line should budget extra travel time. For example, a rider traveling to North Station from Oak Grove should budget at least 10 minutes of travel in addition to their regular trip time.

On the weekends of Jan 3rd-4th, 17th-18th and 31st-Feb.1st, Red & Green Line service will replace regular weekend train service on the Fitchburg Line between North Station and Porter to allow for signal improvement work.

- A diversion schedule will be in effect. - Passengers can use the Red Line for travel between Park St. and Porter. - Passengers can use the Green Line for travel between North Station and Park St. - Passengers traveling to/from North Station should budget extra travel time. For example, a rider traveling to North Station from Porter should budget at least 20 minutes of travel in addition to their regular trip time.

Stoughton Line Train 914 (7:15 am from Stoughton) has departed Stoughton and is operating 5-15 minutes late due to a mechanical issue.

Affected direction: Inbound

Jackson Square: The platform is undergoing renovations to improve safety and accessibility. Sections of the platform are unlevel, which may make it difficult for some riders to board and exit trains.

Red Line: Shuttle buses will replace service between Broadway and North Quincy & Broadway and Ashmont the weekend of January 31 - February 1, for track work. This is to allow for upgrading and testing of the signal system.

Additional Travel Time: Riders using shuttle buses should budget extra time. For example, a rider traveling to Downtown Crossing from Ashmont should budget at least an additional 40 minutes of travel in additional to their regular commute. Commuter Rail Alternatives: Riders are strongly encouraged to use the Fall River/New Bedford, Kingston, and Greenbush (Old Colony) Commuter Rail lines for fare-free service between Braintree, Quincy Center, JFK/UMass, and South Station. Regular fares will be collected for trips beyond Braintree. Accessibility: Accessible van service will be available between the Savin Hill headhouse and the shuttle stop. A shuttle bus will be available to transport customers between Braintree and Quincy Adams. To exit, exit the train at Quincy Adams and find station personnel or use a station call box to request the shuttle bus to Braintree. To board, find station personnel or use a station call box at Braintree to request the shuttle bus to Quincy Adams. Alternatively, customers may also use Bus Routes 230 and 236 for transportation between Braintree and Quincy Center.

To exit the Red Line, exit the train at Quincy Adams and find station personnel or use a station call box to request the shuttle bus to Quincy Center. To board the Red Line, find station personnel or use a station call box at Quincy Center to request the shuttle bus to Quincy Adams. Alternatively, customers may also use Bus Routes 210, 211 and 212 for transportation between Quincy Center and North Quincy.

Park Street Elevator 978 (Copley & West platform to Boston Common) unavailable on Tue Dec 23 due to maintenance

To exit, enter throught the faregates, turn left, and use Park Street Elevator 979 to access the Red Line center platform. At the Red Line platform, proceed to the end of the platform and take Park Street Elevator 808 to the Winter St concourse, then exit through the nearby faregate and use Park Street Elevator 804 to access the corner of Tremont St and Winter St. To board, cross Tremont St to the corner of Tremont St and Winter St, and take Park Street Elevator 804 to the Winter St concourse. At the Winter St concourse, exit through the faregate, then take Park Street Elevator 808 to the Red Line center platform and use Park Street Elevator 979 to access Green Line westbound platform.

To exit the Red Line, use nearby South Station Elevator 901. To board the Red Line, use South Station Elevator 901 located on the opposide side of the lobby. To board the Silver Line, take Elevator 901 to the Silver Line drop-off platform, then take South Station Elevator 927 to the Alewife platform. At the Alewife platform, use nearby South Station Elevator 919 to access the Airport/Design Center/Chelsea platform.

Prudential Elevator 920 (Heath Street platform to lobby) unavailable from Sun Jan 18 through Mon Jan 19 due to maintenance

To exit, exit the train at Northeastern and proceed to the Lechmere platform, then take a Lechmere-bound train to Prudential and use Prudential Elevator 921. To board, use Prudential Elevator 921 to access the Lechmere platform. Take a Lechmere-bound train to Copley, then cross Boylston St to the westbound platform and transfer to a Heath Street-bound train. On Sunday Dec 14, Market St @ Tremont St (inbound & outbound) will be closed until further notice due to construction. Riders of the 426, 429, 441, 442, 455 can board at S Common St @ Market St. Riders of the 435 can board at Tremont St opp St Mary's HS.

Route 222: Beginning Sunday December 14, 2025, the Pleasant St @ Colonels Dr bus stop is being moved approximately 300 ft north to opposite Mutton Lane. Riders can board a bus at the new stop location: Pleasant St Opp Mutton Ln.

The Alford St @ MWRA Pump Station (inbound) stop will be permanently closed beginning Sunday December 14, 2025. Riders can board a bus at Opp 173 Alford St for alternative service.

Blue Line: There will be no train service between Bowdoin & Airport the weekend of January 24 - 25 for maintenance work. Shuttle buses will replace service between Airport and Downtown. Riders downtown can board Airport shuttles at Haymarket.

Additional Travel Time: Riders using shuttle buses should budget extra time. For example, a rider traveling to Government Center from Wonderland should budget at least an additional 30 – 40 minutes of travel in additional to their regular commute. Shuttle Buses: Free and accessible shuttle buses will make stops at Airport, Maverick, and Haymarket on the Green and Orange lines. Downtown Connections: There will be no direct shuttle bus service to/from Bowdoin, Government Center (for connections to the Green Line), State (for connections to the Orange Line), or Aquarium. Accessible Vans: Accessible vans will be available for direct service to Government, Haymarket, Aquarium, and State. Vans can be requested by MBTA personnel or by a station call box. Alternative Ferry Service: East Boston Ferry service will be operating on Saturday from 6 AM to 10 PM, and Sunday from from 6 AM to 9 PM. Trips will be departing every 30 minutes, and the service will be fare-free. Alternative Bus Service: Riders can use SL3 service between Chelsea and South Station, with a stop at Airport Station. Regular fares will be charged.

Orange Line: Service will be suspended between Wellington and Back Bay the weekend of January 10 - 11 for signal system upgrades. Use shuttles between Wellington & North Station. Use the Green Line between North Station & Copley/Back Bay.

Additional Travel Time: Riders using the shuttles buses should allow extra time. For example, a rider traveling to Downtown Crossing from Wellington should budget at least an additional 45 minutes of travel in additional to their regular commute. Local Shuttle Service: Accessible shuttles will be servicing all stations between Wellington and North Station. Express Shuttle Service: Express shuttle buses will operate directly between Wellington and North Station. Commuter Rail Alternatives From the South: Riders can use the Franklin/Foxboro, Needham, or Providence/Stoughton Lines for fare-free travel between Forest Hills, Ruggles, Back Bay and South Station. Regular fares will apply to travel beyond Forest Hills. Commuter Rail Alternatives From the North: Riders can use the Haverhill Line for fare-free travel between Oak Grove, Malden Center, and North Station. Regular fares will apply to travel beyond Oak Grove. Accessible Vans: Accessible vans will be available at downtown Orange Line stations between Back Bay and North Station, as well as Copley on the Green Line. Chinatown Elevator 922 (Forest Hills Platform to Boylston St, Washington St) is unavailable through Sun, Jan 11, 2026, while it undergoes major equipment upgrades. There is no elevator access to the Forest Hills platform.

The elevator will be closed for work that will significantly improve its long-term reliability. To Exit: Get off the train at Tufts Medical Center, take an Oak Grove train to Chinatown and use Elevator 876. To Board: Go to the Silver Line SL5 bus stop at Washington St and Essex St. Take an SL5 (Downtown) bus to Tufts Medical Center (stay on bus past the Temple Pl stop). Alternate route: travel 0.2 miles south on Washington St to Tufts Medical Center.

Ferry Update: There will be no service on Christmas Day, Dec 25; or New Year's Day, Jan 1.

North Station Elevator 731 (Passageway to Causeway Street) unavailable from Thu Jan 8 through Fri Jan 9 due to maintenance

To exit, use North Station Elevator 912 located in the lobby to access the corner of Haverhill St and Causeway St. To board, cross Causeway St, and at the corner of Haverhill St and Causeway St, use North Station Elevator 912 to access the lobby.

Malden Center Elevator 944 (Lobby to Commuter Rail platform) unavailable from Mon Jan 5 through Wed Jan 7 due to maintenance

To exit the Commuter Rail when traveling from North Station, take an Oak Grove-bound Orange Line train to Malden Center and use Malden Center Elevator 945. To exit Commuter Rail when traveling to North Station, exit the train at North Station, then transfer to an Oak Grove-bound Orange Line train to Malden Center and use Malden Center Elevator 945. To board the Commuter Rail, take a Forest Hills-bound Orange Line train to North Station, then transfer to a Haverhill Line train. Please notify station personnel or a train conductor if assistance is required.

Wonderland Garage parking will be temporarily reduced for lighting upgrades. A limited amount of parking spaces will be available during construction.

Beginning November 20, Massachusetts Ave @ Lake St (inbound) is moving approximately 200 ft, to in front of the Capitol Theatre. The temporary stop is located in a right turn lane, but buses are permitted to travel in the lane and continue straight.

The Franklin/Foxboro Line has an emergency Amtrak repair temporary schedule in effect until further notice.

The Franklin/Foxboro Line remains on a temporary construction schedule as Amtrak’s emergency infrastructure repairs will continue beyond October 27th. Construction and service updates for the Franklin/Foxboro, Providence/Stoughton, and Fairmount Lines will be provided as work progresses.

To accommodate Providence Station Renovations, construction barriers have been installed and the Southern stairwell to Track 1 is out of service. Staircase access to Track 3 and Track 5 are now open.

Affected lines: Providence/Stoughton Line Foxboro (Special Events)

Jackson Square: The stairway connecting the Jackson Sq lobby and the south end of the platform is closed until winter 2026. Use the stairway at the north end of the platform. This closure is for the construction of a new stairway and a second elevator.

Construction is ongoing in the Hingham Parking lot and on Shipyard Drive in preparation for the Hingham Ferry Dock upgrades. There is reduced parking in the lot, and portions of Shipyard Drive and driveways to and from the parking lot are affected

Route 429 detoured due to construction. The nearest outbound connections are Lynn Station and Market St @ Liberty St.

Routes 71 and 73 are detoured due to construction. The nearest connections are Mt Auburn St @ Mt Auburn Hospital or Mt Auburn St @ Traill St.

Ruggles Escalator 136 (Orange Line platform to upper lobby) unavailable

Malden Center Escalator 312 (Street level to Commuter Rail platform) unavailable due to maintenance.

South Station Pedal & Park is closed due to construction. Bicycle racks are currently available on Atlantic Ave adjacent to the South Station main entrance.

State Escalator 6 (Oak Grove platform to Old State House lobby) unavailable

The Riverside Ave entrance at Campello Station is currently closed. Passengers may continue to use the Plain St entrance.

Affected lines: Fall River/New Bedford Line

There is no accessible path connecting the inbound and outbound platforms at Wellesley Square Station. The existing path includes steep slopes and is long. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

There are accessible mini-high platforms at the Western end of both the Track 1 and Track 2 sides. However, the existing pedestrian path between the two sides is long and includes steep slopes, especially on the Crest Road bridge over the tracks. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

Littleton/Route 495 passengers can expect occasional traffic and detours accessing the station due to the Foster Street reconstruction work.

Scheduled to complete sometime in 2027, the Reconstruction of Foster Street includes widening and resurfacing with the addition of bicycle lanes.

Andrew Escalator 123 (Ashmont/Braintree platform to busway) is unavailable until further notice pending replacement.

Hingham/Hull Ferry: Portions of the Town of Hull parking lot at the Hull ferry terminal are blocked off for sewer pump station construction work through 2025. More information is available at https://www.town.hull.ma.us/

The Upper Parking Lot at Worcester Station is closed with the exception to accessible parking, due to construction.

Oak Grove Escalator 105 (Commuter Rail platform to unpaid lobby) unavailable

Courthouse Escalator 417 (Airport/Design Center platform to south lobby) unavailable due to ongoing construction at the station.

Courthouse Escalator 415 (Airport/Design Center platform to lobby) unavailable due to ongoing construction at the station.

Bowdoin Escalator 125 (Lobby to street) is unavailable until further notice pending replacement.

The escalator will remain out of service for the foreseeable future. This decision was made after a thorough inspection determined that corrosion on the escalator’s steel truss was so severe that it could not be repaired further and that a complete replacement of the escalator would be required. Replacing the escalator at this location requires a more extended unit meeting modern escalator safety requirements. This longer unit will require significant alteration to the station entrance to meet code requirements. The MBTA has currently begun design work to understand what station upgrades will be needed. Due to these complexities, we expect the escalator will remain out of service for a significant time. We recognize the challenges this poses to our riders, and please know we are working to identify a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Government Center Station, which is fully accessible and serves the Blue Line, is under a quarter-mile from Bowdoin Station.

Lynn Parking Garage arcade stairs 1 and 2 are closed until further notice due to structural issues. Customers may exit the garage via elevators to the ground level or by using the south stairs located on the Market street side of the garage.

Vehicular access to the upper 2 levels of the garage is restricted. The garage has sufficient parking capacity to accommodate daily demand.
