Beginning Sunday, August 24, the AM inbound variant of Rt 4 bus will no longer serve the Surface Rd @ Hanover St stop. Passengers can board the Rt 4 bus at Congress St @ New Sudbury St.

Beginning on Sunday, August 24, 2025, Routes 62 and 76 will run as separate bus routes, with more frequent service on both. Route 62 will run every day, and the combined 62/76 route will be discontinued.

Routes 62 & 76: Bedford VA Hospital – Alewife Station, Hanscom Airport, and Lincoln Lab: If you ride the combined Route 62/76: The combined 62/76 route pattern will be discontinued, ending Saturday service to Lincoln Lab and all service on Hartwell Ave in Lexington. For weekday service between Lexington Center, Hanscom Field, and Lincoln Lab, use Route 76. For Saturday service between Lexington Center, Hanscom Field, and Lincoln Lab, use an alternative travel option. On Hartwell Ave in Lexington, use Route 62 or an alternative travel option. If you ride Route 62: You'll have more frequent service, every day of the week. There won't be any changes to the route. Route 62 will run every day, with weekend service on both Saturday and Sunday. On weekdays during peak hours (7 – 9 AM and 4 – 6:30 PM), a Route 62 bus will arrive every 30 minutes, compared to 45 minutes today. On weekdays during peak hours, between Alewife and Lexington Center, a 62 or 76 bus will arrive every 15 – 30 minutes. On the weekends of August 16th-17th & 23rd-24th, Red and Green Line subway service will replace regular Commuter Rail service between North Station and Porter.

Passengers can utilize the Green Line from North Station to Park Street and then switch to the Red Line from Park Street to Porter. Passengers will then connect with a Commuter Rail train. This allows for work on the North Station Terminal Area Signal System Improvement Project. A diversion schedule will be in effect and available soon on mbta.com/cr.

State Elevator 803 (Forest Hills platform to Washington Street, Milk Street) is out of service until further notice pending major equipment upgrades. We will return this elevator to service as soon as possible.

To exit, proceed to the end of the Forest Hills platform and continue down the hallway (follow signs for Oak Grove and Blue Line) to the Wonderland platform. At the Wonderland platform, proceed to the 53 State St lobby and use State Elevator 975. To board a Forest Hills-bound train, cross Milk St and proceed south on Washington St for one-tenth of a mile to the intersection of Washington St and Winter St, and use Downtown Crossing Elevator 892. To board an Oak Grove-bound train, cross Milk St and proceed south on Washington St for one block to the intersection of Washington St and Franklin St, and use Downtown Crossing Elevator 891 to access the Oak Grove platform.

Park Street Elevator 808 (Red Line center platform to Government Center & North platform, Winter Street Concourse) unavailable from Mon Aug 25 through Sun Oct 5

The elevator will be closed for major equipment upgrades that will significantly improve the long-term reliability of this elevator. To exit: from the Red Line Center platform, take Park Street Elevator 979 to the Green Line Copley & West platform. Exit faregates. Take Elevator 978 to the Boston Common. To Red Line: from street level, take Park Street Elevator 978 on the Boston Common to the Green Line Copley & West lobby. Enter faregates. Turn left. Hingham/Hull Ferry service will extend an hour later on Fridays from August 29 to September 26.

Charlestown and East Boston Ferry service will operate until 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays from August 29 to September 27.

The Fairmount Line will experience service and schedule changes due to Amtrak infrastructure repair work. Passengers can expect delays up to 20 minutes in both directions.

The Franklin/Foxboro line will experience service and schedule changes due to Amtrak infrastructure repair work. Passengers can expect delays of up to 25 minutes in both directions.

Route 429 detoured outbound until further notice due to construction. Connections are Lynn & Market St @ Liberty St.

All inbound Franklin/Foxboro trains will bypass Forest Hills, Ruggles & Back Bay. After 9:00 am, all Franklin Line trains will terminate & originate at Franklin. Passengers will be accommodated by shuttle bus between Forge Park and Franklin.

Affected direction: Inbound Inbound Franklin/Foxboro Line passengers traveling to Forest Hills, Ruggles, or Back Bay may: - Transfer to a Providence Line train at Readville (Track 4) - Stay on inbound Franklin/Foxboro train to South Station then transfer to an outbound train or the subway. AFTER 9:00 A.M: Forge Park passengers should arrive 20 minutes earlier than the regularly scheduled train departure to take connecting shuttle bus service to Franklin Station for a connection with an inbound train for continued inbound service to South Station.

The Providence Line will experience service and schedule changes due to Amtrak infrastructure repair work. Passengers can expect delays of up to 25 minutes in both directions.

Starting August 11th, outbound Fairmount trains 1615 & 1643 and inbound Train 1654 will be temporarily removed from the schedule.

This schedule adjustment will allow Amtrak to continue to make emergency repairs following a fire at a signal bungalow caused by a downed Amtrak overhead wire on August 1. At the same time, the MBTA and Keolis will continue planned infrastructure improvements to prepare the Fairmount Line for battery-electric trains. Schedule will be available on http://mbta.com/cr. Starting August 11, Foxboro outbound trains 1725, 1731, 1739 & inbound trains 1732, 1740 & 1748 will be temporarily removed from the schedule. Passengers can use the Franklin Line for stops between South Station & Walpole to connect with a bus to Foxboro.

This schedule adjustment will allow Amtrak to continue to make emergency repairs following a fire at a signal bungalow caused by a downed Amtrak overhead wire on August 1. At the same time, the MBTA and Keolis will begin construction of a permanent, accessible platform at Foxboro Station, while Amtrak repairs are underway. The schedule changes will be in effect between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays, and updated schedules will be available soon. Inbound train 744 (the 1:20 p.m. from Franklin) will run via the Fairmount Line to provide service to affected passengers between Fairmount and South Station. Special event trains for concerts and Patriots games at Gillette Stadium will continue to operate during construction. To accommodate Providence Station Renovations, construction barriers have been installed and the Southern stairwell to Track 1 & 3 is out of service. The Northern access is open.

The Route 47 Green St @ Magazine St bus stop is temporarily closed for construction through Tuesday, September 30th, 2025. Please board at Green St @ Pearl St for inbound service to Broadway.

George's Island will remain closed until further notice due to maintenance work.

Route 354 bus stop at Common St @ Woburn City Hall (inbound) has moved to Pleasant St @ Woburn District Court. This is a new MBTA bus stop located in front of Woburn District Court.

Jackson Square: The platform is undergoing renovations until fall 2025 to improve safety and accessibility. Sections of the platform will be unlevel during this period, which may make it difficult for some riders to board and exit trains.

Please see station personnel or use a station call box to request assistance.

Jackson Square: The stairway connecting the Jackson Sq lobby and the south end of the platform is closed until winter 2026. Use the stairway at the north end of the platform. This closure is for the construction of a new stairway and a second elevator.

The Broadway @ Windsor St (inbound) Bus stop will be permanently moved to the far side of Windsor St beginning June 26.

The Bus Stop at Saint James Ave @ Dartmouth St is closed until further notice due to construction. Riders should use a nearby temporary bus stop at Saint James Ave @ Clarendon St.

Malden Center Escalator 312 (Street level to Commuter Rail platform) unavailable due to maintenance.

Construction is ongoing in the Hingham Parking lot and on Shipyard Drive in preparation for the Hingham Ferry Dock upgrades. There is reduced parking in the lot, and portions of Shipyard Drive are affected.

There may also be pedestrian detours in the parking lot due to the construction.

State Escalator 6 (Oak Grove platform to Old State House lobby) unavailable

The Riverside Ave entrance at Campello Station is currently closed. Passengers may continue to use the Plain St entrance.

Affected lines: Fall River/New Bedford Line

There is no accessible path connecting the inbound and outbound platforms at Wellesley Square Station. The existing path includes steep slopes and is long. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

There are accessible mini-high platforms at the Western end of both the Track 1 and Track 2 sides. However, the existing pedestrian path between the two sides is long and includes steep slopes, especially on the Crest Road bridge over the tracks. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

Route 426 outbound is detoured nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 PM to end of service for construction. Connect at: Market Sq @ Western Ave & S Common St @ Market St.

Littleton/Route 495 passengers can expect occasional traffic and detours accessing the station due to the Foster Street reconstruction work.

Scheduled to complete sometime in 2027, the Reconstruction of Foster Street includes widening and resurfacing with the addition of bicycle lanes.

Andrew Escalator 123 (Ashmont/Braintree platform to busway) is unavailable until further notice pending replacement.

Hingham/Hull Ferry: Portions of the Town of Hull parking lot at the Hull ferry terminal are blocked off for sewer pump station construction work through 2025. More information is available at https://www.town.hull.ma.us/

The Upper Parking Lot at Worcester Station is closed with the exception to accessible parking, due to construction.

Courthouse Escalator 415 (Airport/Design Center platform to lobby) unavailable due to ongoing construction at the station.

Bowdoin Escalator 125 (Lobby to street) is unavailable until further notice pending replacement.

The escalator will remain out of service for the foreseeable future. This decision was made after a thorough inspection determined that corrosion on the escalator’s steel truss was so severe that it could not be repaired further and that a complete replacement of the escalator would be required. Replacing the escalator at this location requires a more extended unit meeting modern escalator safety requirements. This longer unit will require significant alteration to the station entrance to meet code requirements. The MBTA has currently begun design work to understand what station upgrades will be needed. Due to these complexities, we expect the escalator will remain out of service for a significant time. We recognize the challenges this poses to our riders, and please know we are working to identify a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Government Center Station, which is fully accessible and serves the Blue Line, is under a quarter-mile from Bowdoin Station.

Lynn Parking Garage arcade stairs 1 and 2 are closed until further notice due to structural issues. Customers may exit the garage via elevators to the ground level or by using the south stairs located on the Market street side of the garage.

Vehicular access to the upper 2 levels of the garage is restricted. The garage has sufficient parking capacity to accommodate daily demand.
