Beginning Monday, July 13, Park Street Elevator 823 (Green Line underpass to Copley & West platform) will be closed for maintenance through Monday, September 21.

To board a northbound train: Proceed to the end of the platform and take Park Street Elevator 979 to the Red Line. At the end of the Red Line platform, use Elevator 808 to access the Winter St concourse and Green Line northbound platform.

To board a train to Copley and West: Follow signs to the Red Line and take Park Street Elevator 808 to the Red Line platform. Beginning Monday, July 13, Downtown Crossing Elevator 891 (Oak Grove platform to Franklin Street) will be closed for maintenance through Monday, September 21.

The elevator will be closed for major equipment upgrades that will significantly improve the long-term reliability of this elevator. To exit: Travel down the Summer St concourse towards the Red Line. About halfway down the concourse, take a left through the set of glass doors marked 101 Arch St. Follow signs to the elevator. Take elevator to the 101 Arch St lobby and exit on Summer St. To board: Proceed to 101 Arch St on Summer St (across from Macy’s). Take elevator located in the rear-left corner of the lobby to Summer St concourse. At the concourse, turn right and follow signs to Oak Grove platform.

Route 4 will operate fare-free between North Station and South Station from 9:00 AM to 11:45 PM on all 2026 FIFA World Cup match days.

Red Line: Shuttle buses replace service between Alewife and Park Street from Tuesday, July 21 through Thursday, July 30, for infrastructure upgrades. Riders can also use Commuter Rail, and existing bus routes, as alternatives.

Accessibility: Free and accessible shuttle buses will be operating locally between Alewife and Park St and express between Harvard and the South Station Bus Terminal. Accessible van service will be available between Alewife and Park St on weekdays only. Riders should see station personnel for assistance. Alternative Bus Service: Riders can use Bus Routes 69, 87, 88, 89, 91, and 109 from Davis Square, Harvard Square, and Central Square to connect with the Green Line’s Medford/Tufts and Union Square branches. Alternate Rail Service: Riders can use fare-free Commuter Rail service between Porter Sq and North Station. Regular fares should be purchased for travel beyond Porter. Travel Times: Riders using shuttle bus service should budget ample extra travel time. A rider traveling between Alewife and Park Street should budget at least 70 minutes of travel time in addition to their regular commute. Washington St @ Washington Terr (inbound) and Washington St @ Merriam St (outbound) is closed through August 10 due to construction. The closest inbound stop is Washington St @ Boston St. The closest outbound stop is Washington St @ Medford St.

Littleton/Route 495 passengers can expect occasional traffic and detours when accessing the station due to the Foster Street reconstruction work.

Scheduled to complete sometime in 2027, the reconstruction of Foster Street includes widening and resurfacing, with the addition of bicycle lanes.

Courthouse Escalator 417 (Airport/Design Center platform to south lobby) is unavailable due to ongoing construction at the station.

There is no accessible path connecting the inbound and outbound platforms at Wellesley Square Station. The existing path includes steep slopes and is long. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

There are accessible mini-high platforms at the western end of both the Track 1 and Track 2 sides. However, the existing pedestrian path between the two sides is long and includes steep slopes, especially on the Crest Road bridge over the tracks. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

Green Line E Branch: Symphony station is closed for major accessibility upgrades. Riders can use Prudential or Northeastern to access E Branch service. Construction is expected to last approximately 3 years.

Alternate Service Options: • Riders who typically board or disembark at Symphony can instead board or disembark at Northeastern University or Prudential, which are 0.3 miles away (or about a five-minute walk) from Symphony. • Riders are encouraged to instead consider travelling on the Orange Line at Massachusetts Avenue, which is 0.1 miles (or about a three-minute walk) from Symphony. • Riders may also use the Route 39, which operates parallel to the E branch in both directions along Huntington Avenue. Background: Currently, there are no step-free pathways from the entrances to the platforms at Symphony, and the station is not able to be accessed by people with wheeled mobility devices. When construction is complete in spring 2029, Symphony will be enhanced with four new accessible elevators, raised platforms for easier boarding, accessible bathrooms, improved wayfinding, more lighting, and upgraded safety features, making the station safer and easier to use for all riders.

Hingham Ferry Parking Notice: Passengers should allow for extra time to park and to access the ferry in Hingham due to work being done for the new dock. In addition, Route 220 buses are bypassing the shipyard and are remaining on Route 3A.

Pedestrian Access: There is no access between the Hingham Ferry Terminal and DCR building. Pedestrian access to and from the ferry dock is through and around the west side of the Hingham Ferry Terminal. Some sidewalk access at the Terminal may also be restricted during this work. Shipyard Drive: Shipyard Drive is closed to traffic in front of the Hingham Ferry Terminal. Traffic is being rerouted through the Hingham Parking lot. Drop-offs and pick-ups have been relocated to the parking lot. Traffic police and signage will be in place to direct traffic.

To accommodate renovations at Providence Station, construction barriers have been installed and the southern stairwell to Track 1 is out of service. Staircase access is available to Track 3 and Track 5.

Malden Center Escalator 312 (Street level to Commuter Rail platform) unavailable due to maintenance.

The stairway connecting the Jackson Square lobby and the south end of the platform is closed until winter 2026. Use the stairway at the north end of the platform. This closure is for the construction of a new stairway and a second elevator.

Andrew Escalator 123 (Ashmont/Braintree platform to busway) is unavailable until further notice, pending replacement.

Bowdoin Escalator 125 (Lobby to street) is unavailable until further notice, pending replacement.

The escalator will remain out of service for the foreseeable future. This decision was made after a thorough inspection determined that corrosion on the escalator’s steel truss was so severe that it could not be repaired further and that a complete replacement of the escalator would be required. Replacing the escalator at this location requires a more extended unit meeting modern escalator safety requirements. This longer unit will require significant alteration to the station entrance to meet code requirements. The MBTA has currently begun design work to understand what station upgrades will be needed. Due to these complexities, we expect the escalator will remain out of service for a significant time. We recognize the challenges this poses to our riders, and please know we are working to identify a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Government Center Station, which is fully accessible and serves the Blue Line, is under a quarter-mile from Bowdoin Station.

The platform at Jackson Square is undergoing renovations to improve safety and accessibility. Sections of the platform are unlevel, which may make it difficult for some riders to board and exit trains.

From March through June, 2026, Wickford Junction Garage will be undergoing renovation. Visitors can expect one level at a time to be inaccessible as crews work to complete each floor.

The Riverside Ave entrance at Campello Station is currently closed. Passengers may continue to use the Plain St entrance.
