Fall/Winter Commuter Rail schedules will take effect on Monday, October 26. Schedules for all lines will be available soon at mbta.com/CR. The Fall/Winter schedule maintains consistent service throughout the day, late at night, and on weekends. Schedules will not change on the Fall River/New Bedford, Framingham/Worcester, Greenbush, and Kingston Lines. On the Fitchburg, Haverhill, Lowell, Needham, Newburyport/Rockport, and Providence/Stoughton Lines, several trains will depart earlier or later than in the current schedule to improve resiliency, better reflect operating conditions, and to align with Amtrak schedules. The Franklin/Foxboro Line will remain on a construction schedule while important track work is completed, and some train departure times have been adjusted. Train numbers on all lines will also change with the implementation of the Fall/Winter schedule. Passengers are encouraged to review the new schedules ahead of October 26 to plan their trips. The elevator is closed for major equipment upgrades that will significantly improve the long-term reliability of this elevator. To board a Train to Forest Hills: Cross Milk St and go south on Washington St for one-tenth of a mile (two blocks) to the intersection of Washington St and Winter St. Take Downtown Crossing Elevator 892 to the Forest Hills platform. To board a Train to Oak Grove: Cross Milk St and go south on Washington St for 500 ft (one block) to the intersection of Washington St and Franklin St. Take Downtown Crossing Elevator 891 to the Oak Grove platform. To exit the station: Go to the end of the Forest Hills platform and continue down the hallway (follow signs for Oak Grove and Blue Line) to the Wonderland platform. At the Wonderland platform, go to the 53 State St lobby and use State Elevator 975 to exit.

Downtown Crossing Elevator 869 (Alewife platform to Summer Street Concourse) is unavailable due to maintenance through Tuesday, December 1.

The elevator is closed for major equipment upgrades that will significantly improve the long-term reliability of this elevator. To board a Red Line Train: Proceed to the Orange Line Oak Grove Platform at the opposite end of the concourse. Take elevator 998 or 999 to the Red Line passage, then follow signs to Alewife. The escalator will remain out of service for the foreseeable future. This decision was made after a thorough inspection determined that corrosion on the escalator’s steel truss was so severe that it could not be repaired further and that a complete replacement of the escalator would be required. Replacing the escalator at this location requires a more extended unit meeting modern escalator safety requirements. This longer unit will require significant alteration to the station entrance to meet code requirements. The MBTA has currently begun design work to understand what station upgrades will be needed. Due to these complexities, we expect the escalator will remain out of service for a significant time. We recognize the challenges this poses to our riders, and please know we are working to identify a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Government Center Station, which is fully accessible and serves the Blue Line, is under a quarter-mile from Bowdoin Station.

Pedestrian access to and from the ferry dock is through and around the west side of the Hingham Ferry Terminal. Some sidewalk access at the Terminal may also be restricted during this work. Green Line E Branch: Symphony station is closed for major accessibility upgrades. Riders can use Prudential or Northeastern to access E Branch service. The station is expected to reopen in 2029.

Alternate Service Options: • Riders who typically board or disembark at Symphony can instead board or disembark at Northeastern University or Prudential, which are 0.3 miles away (or about a five-minute walk) from Symphony. • Riders are encouraged to instead consider travelling on the Orange Line at Massachusetts Avenue, which is 0.1 miles (or about a three-minute walk) from Symphony. • Riders may also use the Route 39, which operates parallel to the E branch in both directions along Huntington Avenue. Background: Currently, there are no step-free pathways from the entrances to the platforms at Symphony, and the station is not able to be accessed by people with wheeled mobility devices. When construction is complete in spring 2029, Symphony will be enhanced with four new accessible elevators, raised platforms for easier boarding, accessible bathrooms, improved wayfinding, more lighting, and upgraded safety features, making the station safer and easier to use for all riders.

Scheduled to complete sometime in 2027, the reconstruction of Foster Street includes widening and resurfacing, with the addition of bicycle lanes.

There is no accessible path connecting the inbound and outbound platforms at Wellesley Square Station. The existing path includes steep slopes and is long. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

There are accessible mini-high platforms at the western end of both the Track 1 and Track 2 sides. However, the existing pedestrian path between the two sides is long and includes steep slopes, especially on the Crest Road bridge over the tracks.
