Orange Line: Shuttle buses will replace service between Oak Grove and North Station, beginning at 8:30 PM on Friday, May 9, through Sunday, May 18 for MassDOT bridge work.

Accessible Service: Accessible van service will be available weekdays during this service change, directly serving all Orange Line stations between Oak Grove and North Station. Please see station personnel to request the accessible van. Alternative Service: Riders are strongly encouraged to consider the Haverhill Commuter Rail Line for fare-free service to and from Oak Grove, Malden Center, and North Station. Regular fares should be purchased for travel beyond Oak Grove. Shuttle Service: Accessible shuttles will be servicing all stations between Oak Grove and North Station. Riders using shuttle buses should allow for extra time for their travels. For example, a rider traveling to Downtown Crossing from Oak Grove should budget an additional 45 – 60 minutes of travel time in addition to their regular commute. To exit the Red Line, use nearby South Station Elevator 918. To exit the Silver Line, take South Station Elevator 927 to the Alewife platform, then take South Station Elevator 919 to the Airport/Design Center/Chelsea platform. Green Line B Branch: Service will originate / terminate at the Lake Street platform, just outside of Boston College Station, from 8:45 PM on Friday, May 2, through the end of service on Sunday, May 4. This to allow for maintenance work in the BC yard.

Prudential Elevator 920 (Heath Street platform to lobby) unavailable due to maintenance

To exit, exit the train at Northeastern and proceed to the Lechmere platform, then take a Lechmere-bound train to Prudential and use Prudential Elevator 921. To board, use Prudential Elevator 921 to access the Lechmere platform. Take a Lechmere-bound train to Copley, then cross Boylston St to the westbound platform and transfer to a Heath Street-bound train. See station personnel at the Copley westbound lobby to gain entry at the faregate.

Construction is ongoing in the Hingham Parking lot and on Shipyard Drive in preparation for the Hingham Ferry Dock upgrades. There is reduced parking in the lot, and portions of Shipyard Drive are affected.

There may also be pedestrian detours in the parking lot due to the construction.

Ferry St @ Reed Ave (inbound) stop moving beginning Fri Apr 25 due to construction. Riders can board nearby at the corner of Ferry St and Elm St.

North Quincy Newport Avenue Parking Lot has closed due to construction. The vehicle entrance and exit relocated to the old “state street” driveway. Public access via stairs/escalators to the lobby is restricted. Elevator access only.

Winthrop/Quincy Ferry notice: Weekend service will begin on Saturday, May 17, 2025. On weekends, the MBTA will continue to operate a combined Winthrop and Quincy Ferry route serving all destinations.

On weekends, the combined Winthrop and Quincy Ferry route will serve Winthrop, Quincy, Logan Airport, the Seaport, and Central Wharf / Aquarium. Weekend schedules will be available prior to the start of service at mbta.com/Ferry.

The outbound bus stop at Green St @ Magazine St is closed through May 11 (Routes 70 and 64) due to construction. Riders can use nearby bus stop at Western Ave @ Green St.

From March 24 to June 1, 2025, the Newburyport/Rockport Line will have a temporary construction schedule in effect to accommodate track improvement work. On June 2, 2025 the full Spring/Summer schedule will resume with full service.

State Escalator 6 (Oak Grove platform to Old State House lobby) unavailable

Hingham/Hull Ferry notice: Weekend Hingham/Hull Ferry service will begin on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Weekday service continues to operate year-round.

The Riverside Ave entrance at Campello Station is currently closed. Passengers may continue to use the Plain St entrance.

Assembly Escalator 442 (Foley Street to unpaid lobby) unavailable due to maintenance

There is no accessible path connecting the inbound and outbound platforms at Wellesley Square Station. The existing path includes steep slopes and is long. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

There are accessible mini-high platforms at the Western end of both the Track 1 and Track 2 sides. However, the existing pedestrian path between the two sides is long and includes steep slopes, especially on the Crest Road bridge over the tracks. Designs are underway to provide for a fully compliant pathway.

Route 426 outbound is detoured nightly, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 PM to end of service for construction. Connect at: Market Sq @ Western Ave & S Common St @ Market St.

Littleton/Route 495 passengers can expect occasional traffic and detours accessing the station due to the Foster Street reconstruction work.

Scheduled to complete sometime in 2027, the Reconstruction of Foster Street includes widening and resurfacing with the addition of bicycle lanes.

Effective until further notice, the entrances to Natick Center station are relocated to Washington Street for access to the inbound and outbound platforms.

North Avenue entrance and Walnut Street entrance will remain closed until further notice. This access change will allow for work on the new platforms as part of Natick Center Station Accessibility Improvements Project.

Andrew Escalator 123 (Ashmont/Braintree platform to busway) is unavailable until further notice pending replacement.

Quincy Center Escalator 330 (Red Line platform to lobby) unavailable due to maintenance

Commuter Rail train service is suspended at Haverhill station through Summer 2025 to allow for work on the South Elm Street Bridge. An accessible van operates between Haverhill and Bradford.

Built in 1906, the South Elm Bridge is beyond its useful life and ready to be replaced. Using accelerated bridge construction techniques to reduce customer and traffic impacts, the MBTA will replace the nearly-120-year-old bridge with a modern single-span structure with a useful life of 75 years. The new structure will include a ballasted steel deck, which means a smoother ride for passengers. The MBTA will also perform roadway, sidewalk, and drainage improvements along South Elm Street.

Hingham/Hull Ferry: Portions of the Town of Hull parking lot at the Hull ferry terminal are blocked off for sewer pump station construction work through 2025. More information is available at https://www.town.hull.ma.us/

The Upper Parking Lot at Worcester Station is closed with the exception to accessible parking, due to construction.

Oak Grove Escalator 105 (Commuter Rail platform to unpaid lobby) unavailable

Courthouse Escalator 417 (Airport/Design Center platform to south lobby) unavailable due to ongoing construction at the station.

Ruggles Escalator 136 (Orange Line platform to upper lobby) unavailable due to maintenance

Bowdoin Escalator 125 (Lobby to street) is unavailable until further notice pending replacement.

The escalator will remain out of service for the foreseeable future. This decision was made after a thorough inspection determined that corrosion on the escalator’s steel truss was so severe that it could not be repaired further and that a complete replacement of the escalator would be required. Replacing the escalator at this location requires a more extended unit meeting modern escalator safety requirements. This longer unit will require significant alteration to the station entrance to meet code requirements. The MBTA has currently begun design work to understand what station upgrades will be needed. Due to these complexities, we expect the escalator will remain out of service for a significant time. We recognize the challenges this poses to our riders, and please know we are working to identify a solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, Government Center Station, which is fully accessible and serves the Blue Line, is under a quarter-mile from Bowdoin Station.

Lynn Parking Garage arcade stairs 1 and 2 are closed until further notice due to structural issues. Customers may exit the garage via elevators to the ground level or by using the south stairs located on the Market street side of the garage.

Vehicular access to the upper 2 levels of the garage is restricted. The garage has sufficient parking capacity to accommodate daily demand.
